A beautiful picture of the cross representing the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for you and I.
Question: When you hear someone talking about salvation or “being saved”, what does that mean?
In simple terms:
Answer: Biblical salvation is God’s gracious act of rescuing sinners from the penalty, power, and ultimately the presence of sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, received by faith alone.
(Simplified definition) –Salvation is being delivered from sin and made right with God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is offered to every man.
Here is a question you must answer. What will you do with this offer of salvation? This offer of having peace with God through Christ?
Salvation is a gift. Just like when someone hands you a gift at Christmas or at birthday party. You can Accept it? Or you can reject it?
Look at what the Bible says in John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
When a person by faith receives Christ, trusting him as their savior, they become a child of God. Accepted and adopted into His family.
Because of my pride as a 22 year-old young man, instead of receiving Christ, I almost rejected Him that day in 1998 when I heard the gospel.
Oh, but I’m so glad I confessed my sin of pride and rebellion and the best way I knew how I trusted in Christ as my personal savior.
That was the greatest decision I’ve ever made.
Did I understand everything at that time? No. But I did understand this:
1. I had a great need
The need to be forgiven in the eyes of God because I was a sinner by nature which separated me from Him.
2. That need was met
By trusting in what Jesus did, I received that needed forgiveness and was granted that peace with God I so desperately needed. Separated no longer, God gave me new life.
The Bible said I had passed from death unto life. It was nothing I did. It was all about Jesus.
I got saved that day! Even now, 28 years later and 50 years old, I’m still excited about what God did on that day! I can’t help but praise and love Him. He’s been so real in my life ever since. True life transformation took place. I’ve never been the same and I never want take that for granted. It’s all because of Jesus.
*If you don’t know you are saved please keep reading until the end.
*If you are a believer I encourage you also to continue reading. God wants you to be a witness for Him. You will find help to be able to do that more effectively.

At the cross, Jesus paid the price for our sin so we could be made right with God.
Here is a great illustration to help you get a better understanding of salvation and how you get saved.
There was once a man walking down a road weighed down by a heavy debt. Every wrong choice he had ever made added another charge to his account. The debt was called sin, for the Bible says,
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
He tried to cover it himself with good works, kind words, and promises to do better. But no matter how hard he tried, the balance never went away—because “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Every debt had to be paid.
Then he heard about a Savior named Jesus. Jesus had no debt of His own—He was perfect. Yet He chose to step into the man’s place, just as Scripture says,
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
When Jesus went to the cross, He paid in full what the man could never afford.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24).
Justice was satisfied. Sin was paid for.
Three days later, Jesus rose from the grave, proving the payment was accepted, because “He was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25).
Now the man had a choice. He could keep trying to pay what he never could—or he could trust the One who already paid it all. The Bible gives this promise:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
When he placed his faith in Jesus, the debt was wiped clean, his record was forgiven, and he was made new—just as God said,
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
And that is how anyone is saved—not by being perfect, but by trusting the One who paid it all.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
In Review
We were lost in sin
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
We were under judgment
“The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
God provided a Savior for
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
We receive salvation by faith
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
We are made right with God
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
Where do you stand with God? The truth is there is no middle ground.
You either have peace with God because you’ve been saved through the finished work of Jesus. Or you are not at peace with God because you are still in a state of separation and judgment from God because of your sin.
Someone once said:
“To be at peace with God is to rest in the finished work of Christ— no fear of judgment, no weight of guilt, only the quiet confidence that you are fully forgiven and forever loved.”
My desire is for you to KNOW and have confidence that you are fully forgiven and loved forever!
If you already know you’ve been saved, go and be a witness to others, telling them what Jesus did for you.
The Bible says:
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners….”
- 2 Timothy 1:15
Jesus came into this world to save YOU!
It is no coincidence you’re reading this. If you would like to get saved, I invite you to pray the prayer below. It’s not a magic prayer with magic words. It is you admitting to God that you are a sinner not worthy of having peace with Him deserving seperation forever. But you now are trusting in the finished work of Christ on the cross to save you and reconcile you to the very God that created you.
You can receive the gift of salvation this very moment. Don’t wait….for you do not know what tomorrow brings. Simply call out to God through the prayer below.
“God, I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and turn to Jesus placing my trust in Him alone. Please forgive me, make me new, and give me eternal life.
Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer, I would love to hear from you so that I may rejoice with you. I did exactly what you just did when I was 22 years old and it changed my life forever. He gave me a new life here on earth and gave me a home in heaven for when I die.
Again, my name is Steve and if you did put your faith in Christ today, I would love to hear from you so I can rejoice with you. Also I can send you some great resources that will help you to grow in the new life. God is giving you.
